The world’s second-largest indoor theme park, accessible by subway, is located in the heart of the city. This theme park, which attracts over 8 million visitors annually, is part of a large shopping mall known as Lotte World.
Lotte World, which houses the theme park, along with the iconic Lotte World Tower and Lotte World Mall, which features a luxury department store, are all interconnected by both underground and aboveground passages, together forming a vast shopping complex. For tourists in Seoul, it’s worth dedicating a few hours to visit this place.

Lotte World
It is a complex shopping mall that operates an adventure theme park, hotel, department store, folk museum, ice rink, musical theater, children’s role-playing theme park, and a large supermarket. Due to the name being used interchangeably with “Lotte World Adventure,” Lotte World is often misunderstood as being solely focused on the Adventure theme park.
However, other facilities such as Lotte Hotel World, Lotte Department Store, Charlotte Theater (musical theater), Lotte World Ice Rink, the children’s role-playing theme park KidZania, and the Folk Museum are also well-managed.
Lotte World Adventure
The official name of the theme park is “Lotte World Adventure,” but it is often abbreviated as “Lotte World” by the general public and even by the operators of Lotte World Adventure. The park consists of an indoor adventure area and the outdoor Magic Island. For Magic Island, the outdoor section, Lotte operates it without ownership, having donated it to the city of Seoul upon its opening.
The indoor adventure area is a vast dome-shaped theme park themed around “Small Earth Villages,” which is great because it is not affected by weather or seasons. There are 22 different rides in this area, and seasonal events like the Rio Samba Carnival, Halloween Party, and Christmas Festival are held here.
Magic Island, located in the middle of Seokchon Lake, has a total of 17 rides, including popular thrill rides like the Gyro Swing, Gyro Drop, and Atlantis, which offer an exciting adrenaline rush.
